The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra is Coming to BHS — And All Proceeds Benefit the Burrell Education Foundation!

The Burrell Education Foundation has new, exciting events planned for this upcoming school year, including a visit from the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra in April that you won’t want to miss.

The Burrell Education Foundation is a non-profit organization solely dedicated to expanding, enriching, and enhancing opportunities for all students in the Burrell School District. Thanks to the help of its Board members, educators, parents, and members of the community, the Foundation has been able to raise private funds to broaden the educational horizons of our students, as well as award grants and scholarships to help support education initiatives and provide students with additional post-secondary education options. This year’s Academic Awards Ceremony will be held at Burrell High School on Wednesday, May 16th, where scholarships will be presented to recipients.

Each year, the Foundation also hosts a variety of annual fundraising events such as the Bowl-A-Thon, which took place this past February, and a golf outing, which will be held on June 11th at Hillcrest Country Club. These annual events have a history of success, which was recently demonstrated by the support of the 71 bowlers who attended the February Bowl-A-Thon and helped to raise $2,600 in profit to support our District.

In addition to hosting these annual events, the Burrell Education Foundation is always looking for new ways to expand upon its fundraising efforts. One very exciting example is the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming visit to Burrell High School on Saturday, April 21st at 2pm. Conducted by Grammy Award-winner Lucas Richman, the Symphony will perform a concert featuring both movie music from popular titles like Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Star Wars, plus classics from Copland and Tchaikovsky. Donations will be accepted at the door and all proceeds go towards the Burrell Education Foundation and its mission to foster creative learning.

Also in April, the Foundation has planned its first annual wine tasting event, which will occur on Wednesday, April 18th from 6 to 9pm at the Wooden Door Winery in Vandergrift. Tickets are $40 per person, which will provide multiple wine tastings and light hors d’oeuvres, along with live entertainment and a commemorative wine glass.
